At the Well Episode 11 is live

30 June 2020

Episode 11 of the At The Well podcast is now available.

In this month’s episode, co-hosts Catholic Youth Parramatta’s Local Engagement Leader, Qwayne Guevara, and Assistant Director Rosie Drum mgl, and writer and mother Joy Adan ask ‘am I worth more than what I do?’

“I delight God by just being me,” Rosie explained. “That’s really hard to believe when we weigh up our job and everything with our performance…we can quite easily put that then onto our worth in life itself. If I’m not being a really good and useful sister, aunt, daughter, mother, wife, granddaughter, neighbour, friend, then what’s my worth?

“We’re not ‘human doings’, we’re human beings. We’re first called to be in the presence of God,” she said.

Joy added, “we are loved innately just because that is why we’re here. There are so many examples in Scripture and in our belief and tradition that point to that idea that God knew us before we were born, he loved us before we were born, that we were made out of love, and that’s what brought us here.

“We are worth and are able to be loved so much more that what we think we can contribute,” she said.

The idea to start a podcast for women followed the success of several At the Well evenings for young women, which were inspired by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference’s Year of Youth.

The podcast, the hosts explain, is a chance to build on the joys of the At The Well evenings on a more regular basis, a chance to give a feminine perspective on questions of faith and life, and to continue the conversations sparked during the face-to-face gatherings.

At The Well is an initiative of the Diocese of Parramatta, through its youth ministry Catholic Youth Parramatta.
